SMBC Delivers More Airbus’s to Aeroflot
Dublin based leasing company SMBC Aviation Capital has delivered three Airbus aircraft to Russian airline Aeroflot in recent days. The aircraft involved were two Airbus A350’s and one Airbus A320neo. The two Airbus A350-900 aircraft, VP-BXD c/n 0429 & VP-BXP c/n 0441, were delivered on the 1st and 2nd of July respectively. The A350 is equipped with two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines. The delivery of these aircraft to Aeroflot represents a significant milestone for SMBC, being the first A350-900 aircraft delivered to Aeroflot, as part of a two aircraft A350-900 transaction with the airline. VP-BXD was built in 2020 and placed in storage at Châteauroux Airport between March and late May when it returned to Toulouse for pre-delivery work by Airbus. VP-BXP is a 2021 build machine and only undertook its first flight at the end of May.
Aeroflot also received an Airbus A320neo from SMBC that was handed over at the Airbus facilities in Toulouse on 30th June. The aircraft, Airbus A320-251NX, VP-BPM (c/n 10258) first flew last January but was placed in temporary storage at Châteauroux Airport from late January until early June when it returned to Airbus for pre-delivery work. This Aircraft is the third A320NEO delivered to Aeroflot as part of three A320NEO and two A321NEO transactions with the airline, from SMBC’s direct order with Airbus. The remaining aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the coming weeks.
