AerCap Delivers 100th Boeing 787 as Aeroméxico Takes its 25th Dreamliner

Dublin-headquartered aircraft leasing giant AerCap has marked a significant milestone with the delivery of its 100th Boeing 787 Dreamliner from its direct Boeing orderbook, while the aircraft also represents Aeroméxico’s 25th Dreamliner.

The Boeing 787-9 was delivered on lease to Mexico’s flag carrier Aeroméxico, highlighting the long-standing relationship between the airline, Boeing and AerCap. The milestone is particularly noteworthy for AerCap, which remains the world’s largest owner of Boeing 787 aircraft and holds the largest Dreamliner orderbook of any aircraft lessor, with approximately 140 aircraft owned or on order.

AerCap Chief Commercial Officer Peter Anderson described the delivery as an important occasion for both companies. “We are delighted to deliver this Boeing 787-9 to Aeroméxico, a valued long-standing customer of AerCap,” he said. “This delivery marks two important milestones: AerCap’s 100th Boeing 787 delivery from our direct order book with Boeing and Aeroméxico’s 25th Dreamliner.”

Anderson added that the 787 continues to be one of the most attractive widebody aircraft in airline service, citing its combination of operating efficiency, performance and passenger comfort. He noted that the aircraft will support Aeroméxico’s continued growth while helping the airline improve fleet efficiency and sustainability.

For Aeroméxico, the arrival of its 25th Dreamliner underlines the central role the type plays in the carrier’s long-haul operations. The airline operates one of the largest Dreamliner fleets in Latin America and uses the aircraft extensively across its international network linking Mexico with destinations in North America, Europe, Asia and South America.

Max Alvarez, Senior Vice President Fleet and Business Development at Aeroméxico, said the newest aircraft reflects the airline’s commitment to maintaining a modern and efficient fleet. “Receiving our 25th Boeing 787 marks an important milestone in Aeroméxico’s fleet strategy and reflects our continued commitment to strengthening our position as a modern, efficient and world-class airline,” Alvarez said.

He added that the Dreamliner has been instrumental in the airline’s network expansion while providing the reliability, efficiency and passenger experience expected by customers.

Boeing also highlighted the significance of the delivery. Patrick McKelvey, Vice President of Global Leasing Commercial Sales & Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted that AerCap was the first aircraft lessor to take delivery of a Boeing 787 in 2013 and has since become the manufacturer’s largest leasing customer for the type.

According to McKelvey, Boeing has now delivered more 787 Dreamliners to AerCap than to any other customer, underscoring the strength of the partnership between the two companies and the continued demand for the widebody aircraft.

The achievement is another milestone for AerCap, which is headquartered in Dublin and is widely regarded as the world’s leading aviation leasing company. The lessor serves approximately 300 customers worldwide and manages one of the aviation industry’s most extensive aircraft portfolios.
