Pilots planning to operate along Ireland’s east coast on Saturday 1st August 2026 should take note of a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) that will be established for the Bray Air Display. The restriction has been introduced by the Irish Aviation Authority to ensure the safety of participating display aircraft and other airspace users during one of the country’s most popular aviation events.
The Temporary Restricted Area will be centred on Bray, Co. Wicklow, with a radius of 6 nautical miles from a point located at 53°12’22.6”N 006°05’29.0”W (Bray Seafront). The restriction will extend from the surface to 4,000 feet AMSL and will be active between 1000 UTC and 1800 UTC on Saturday 1st August 2026. During this period, significant airspace restrictions will apply to general aviation traffic operating in the area.
Aircraft involved in the air display will normally operate on an Air/Ground frequency of 119.600 MHz and will follow the instructions and information provided by the Airshow Display Director. The IAA notes that Dublin ATC may activate special contingency arrangements if required for sections of the TRA that overlap with the Dublin CTR and CTA.
The restriction will prohibit all flights within the TRA unless specifically exempted. State aircraft, Irish Coast Guard aircraft, and National Ambulance Service on operational missions will be permitted to enter the area. Aircraft authorised by the Flying Display Director will also be allowed to operate within the restricted airspace.
A NOTAM will be issued by the Aeronautical Information Service closer to the event confirming activation details and any associated operational information. As always, pilots should check current NOTAMs and briefing information before flight and pay particular attention to any updates relating to the Bray Air Display restrictions.
