ASL Aviation Holdings and Ametek Announce Landing Gear Partnership

ASL Aviation Holdings and AMETEK MRO AEM  have announced a new agreement for the provision of landing gear services for ASL’s European fleet of B737 NG and Classic aircraft. The agreement covers the provision of overhaul services and loan gear sets until the end of 2026 and builds on ASL’s existing relationship with AEM, who have been an ASL trusted supplier for many years.

“This agreement epitomises the desire for ASL to create strategic partnerships with suppliers of the calibre of AEM. It allows us to consolidate the overhaul activity for landing gears across our European B737 fleet and benefit from cementing a relationship with a trusted supplier in whom we have great confidence will deliver an excellent service for us,” said James George, Head of Procurement, ASL Aviation Holdings.

Andy Wheeler, Divisional Vice President and Managing Director of AEM added that, “Investment in streamlining our processes, alongside our focus on skills development, means that AEM can ensure sustained repair and overhaul services as the industry’s demand for landing gear services increases and ASL grows its operations.”

Headquartered in Dublin, ASL’s six airlines include ASL Airlines Ireland, ASL Airlines Belgium, ASL Airlines France and ASL Airlines UK in Europe. ASL also have joint venture and associate airlines FlySafair in South Africa, K-Mile Asia in Thailand and Quikjet Airlines in India. The group also includes several leasing entities. The Group has a fleet of 130 aircraft that includes 7 aircraft types ranging from the turbo prop ATR 72 to the Boeing 747.

AMETEK MRO AEM has been an independent overhaul and repair facility for more than 60 years providing a broad range of services to international and regional airlines, helicopter operators and airframe manufacturers. Conducting business from three sites in the United Kingdom, AMETEK MRO AEM’s capabilities cover aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment.

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
