SMBC Delivers A320neo to Juneyao
SMBC Aviation Capital has delivered the first of three aircraft due to Juneyao Air this year. The Airbus A320neo was delivered from the Airbus facilities in Hamburg. The aircraft, B-324D (c/n 10498) made its first test flight at Hamburg on 2nd July and then made a couple more flights prior to handover. The delivery flight left Hamburg on Tuesday afternoon for Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Kazakhstan and then on to the airline’s base at Shanghai Pudong Airport in China. The next aircraft is due for delivery in September.
Juneyao Air was founded in 2005 and started operations in 2006. The airline currently has a fleet of over 80 aircraft comprising 60 older Airbus A320 and A321’s with an additional 13 Airbus Neo’s. They have a long haul fleet of Boeing 787’s and had previously announced a route from Shanghai to Dublin in late 2019 to start in March 2020. However, this never materialised due to the global pandemic.
