Ireland West Airport to Close for 3 Weeks
Ireland West Airport Knock is to close for three weeks to allow for essential Runway end safety area works to take place. The Airport will undertake the runway end safety upgrade works between 26th May and 16th June inclusive. During this three week period, the airport will not be operational for flights in or out of the airport. The airport has had very little commercial traffic with the continuation of the COVID restrictions with the only arrivals for the EirTrade end-of-life work.
The support funding for this project was announced on 19th April by the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport as part of the ongoing capital investment in the areas of safety, security and sustainability under the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025. The project is being completed in the soonest possible timeframe to avoid any major disruption to flight services later in the year once air travel resumes. All airlines and relevant authorities have been notified to allow for minimal disruption.
