BA to add new route to Belfast

British Airways is to start a new route from London City to Belfast City from 1st September. The new route will be operated once a day, six days a week initially and will rise to ten flights per week on 12th October. This will then be increased to 18 services per week for the winter season starting on 25th October. This new route will be flown by British Airways franchise operated Cityflyer using Embraer 190 aircraft. These aircraft are configured with 98 seats either in a single class layout or in a two class featuring Club Europe and Euro Traveller class.

British Airways have previously flown on the London Heathrow – Belfast International route but that was cancelled when the COVID-19 pandemic kicked in and services were cut. It is unlikely that British Airways will return to this route when they can now offer a convenient City Centre airport at both ends for Business customers. Cityflyer operate a fleet of 18 Embraer EMB-190 and six EMB-170 aircraft on behalf of British Airways with their fleet based at London City Airport.
