Red Arrows and Frecce Tricolori confirmed for Bray 2016
Details for the 2016 Bray Air show have been announced and this year looks like being the biggest and best one yet. Following on from the wonderful reception given to the Patrouille Suisse last year with their appearance alongside the Aer Lingus A319, this year there will be more noise and smoke with not one, but two international military fast jet display teams. The RAF ‘Red Arrows’ and the Italian Air Force ‘Frecce Tricolori’ will both be displaying at Bray for the first time in July. These are two of the best display teams on the airshow circuit and to have these appear at a free airshow in Bray is a credit to the organisers. This is the final year to see the Italians with their Aermacchi MB.339 as they will be changing the aircraft for 2017.
Also appearing at Bray this year will be the French civilian display team, La Patrouille Tranchant. These operate a four-ship team of Fouga Magister aircraft that will be familiar to Irish audiences as the Irish Air Corps previously operated this type from the 1970’s-1990’s.
Previous Bray visitors include the Breitling Wingwalkers who will be back again this year. They have been performing for over 30 years and have over 2500 displays under their belt.
It wont be all international acts on the day as there will be involvement from the Irish Air Corps, The Irish Historical Flight Foundation, Aer Dynamics display team in the Vans RV-7 and flypasts from the Irish airlines are expected too.
There will be plenty to do on the ground too including ground displays from the Irish Defence Forces. The Bray Summerfest will be taking place with Funfairs along the Promenade and Artisan Food and Craft Fair along the seafront. More aircraft are expected to be added to the final display list in due course and we will have further updates before the day. The event will be free to the public and will take place on the weekend of July 23rd-24th.
