Irish Airports and Control Towers Light Up for the Wave of Light

Several key locations in Ireland’s aviation network took part in the 2025 Wave of Light, marking the close of Baby Loss Awareness Week on October 15th.

Both Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport were illuminated in pink and blue, along with the air traffic control tower at Dublin Airport, operated by AirNav Ireland. The displays were visible across the evening skyline as part of a nationwide show of support and remembrance. The initiative forms part of a global Wave of Light, where families and organisations around the world illuminate buildings and landmarks to honour babies who have died during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after.

The participation of major aviation sites reflected a continued commitment by Ireland’s aviation community to public awareness and community engagement. The daa, which operates Dublin Airport, has previously supported related causes — in 2024, the organisation made A Little Lifetime Foundation, a charity supporting parents affected by baby loss, one of its official Charities of the Year. This year’s illuminations once again demonstrate that commitment, helping to ensure the Wave of Light was visible across Ireland’s skies.
