Ulster Aviation Society Open Days in September

The Ulster Aviation Society are again going to be part of the European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) Weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September 2025, to give the public free access to their pair of authentic Second World War aircraft hangars.

Building on the record-breaking 7000 visitors during EHOD 2024 – seen by many as the largest EHOD weekend attraction within NI (having quadrupled in size in just 2 years) – the Ulster Aviation Society are again giving the public free access to their pair of authentic Second World War hangars, raising awareness of the site’s cultural significance and heritage, along with its educational benefit to the community. Love Heritage’s EHOD NI theme for 2025 is “Architectural Heritage: Past Structures, Future Connections”, and the Ulster Aviation Society summarises that perfectly.

They’ll have many of their aircraft outside in their compound again and some on display for the first time. Wander around as they will have some volunteer Tour Guides on-hand at various aircraft and exhibits. There may well be some restoration work going on at the back of Hangar 2 (on the right) to show you what some of the Volunteers do. Try out the brand new expanded, state-of-the-art Flight Simulators and VR Headsets in their two Flight Sim & VR Suites.

Hangar Opening Times: 10am – 5pm both days(SAT & SUN) via Gate 3. They will have multiple volunteer Tour Guides on site both days to help people at various aircraft around the two Second World War hangars.
