As reported in December 2022, developer Peter Day is planning on building 10 hangar homes at Enniskillen Airport. He has now reported that the planning application has been submitted following surveys requested by the local planning authority. Commenting on the application, Mr. Day said: “This should have happened 12 months ago after the Public Consultation meeting at Enniskillen Airport, but the delay with Northern Ireland Water accepting a suitable off-setting scheme for storm water, and then the Local Planning Authority (LPA) insisting on a Contamination Survey on the site, has taken almost a year, but the Planning Application has finally been submitted.”

The development will also include a clubhouse with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym and changing rooms. Upstairs will feature a bar, club room, manager’s apartment and a balcony that will overlook the airfield.
Mr. Day went on to say: “After 10 years trying to get Hangar Homes and Mixed-use Hangars (Commercial + Residential Use) adopted in the UK with meetings at Andreas (IoM), Bembridge, Blackpool, Caernarfon, Derby, Denham, Elstree, Fairoaks, Hinton, Isle of Man, Old Sarum, Swansea, Wellesbourne and Wolverhampton, Pre-Application Meetings with LPAs for Perranporth, Plymouth, Shoreham and Newtownards, plus Full Planning Applications for Solent and Enniskillen, this one is the most likely to succeed, as outlined on the website: https://www.hangarhomes.co.uk/”
Should planning permission be granted for this development, then building could start in 2025 for occupation in 2026.
