Nav Warning Over Aviva Stadium Updated to a TRA

The Navigation Warning we published on Wednesday (see here) for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic Fly-Past has been updated by the IAA to a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA). While the dimensions of the original Navigation Warning have stayed the same, the activity times have changed to 1545UTC until 1615UTC.

Lateral Limits:             The airspace contained within: 53° 19’ 00” N, 006° 14’ 54” W 53° 19’ 00” N, 006° 12’ 00” W 53° 20’ 34” N, 006° 12’ 00” W 53° 20’ 49.3” N, 006° 15’ 15.3” W

Vertical Limits:            SFC to 2000FT AMSL

Duration:                    The period of the restriction shall be from 1545hrs UTC to 1615hrs UTC on Saturday, August 24th, 2024.

The airspace contained within the TRA shall be classified as ICAO Class C. State aircraft, aircraft of the Irish Coastguard Service and HEMS Aircraft Operators employed on an operational mission shall be exempt from the restriction. Subject to any decision by the Flight Operations Department of the Irish Aviation Authority to the contrary, the airspace within the TRA is restricted to use by aircraft authorised by the Aer Lingus College Football Classic Flight Display Director.

Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
