Temporary Restricted Area – Co. Clare

The IAA has published details of a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) that will be established on Monday off the coast of Co. Clare to facilitate Unmanned Aircraft System testing. The restriction will take effect every Monday to Friday from July 8th until Friday 4th October from 10:00 UTC (11:00L) to 19:00 UTC (20:00L) each day. The TRA will not be active on bank holiday Monday 5th August. It’s located north of Kilkee and south of Spanish Point. The vertical limits are from Sea Level to 2,500ft and the airspace will remain Class G. This is an extension of a previous TRA that operated at the same location for a week in April this year.

The airspace within the TRA is restricted to use by aircraft authorised by A-Techsyn Ltd. Unmanned Aircraft Systems operated in breach of TRA restrictions may be subject to seizure by An Garda Síochána as evidence for potential prosecution and in the interest of Aviation Safety.  Any exemptions, alleviations or permissions, granted to civil general air traffic by the Authority, are not valid within this Temporary Restricted Area during the period cited. State aircraft, aircraft of the Irish Coastguard Service and HEMS Aircraft Operators employed on an operational mission shall be exempt from the restriction.
