A new book, Air Traffic Management – Principles, Performance, Markets, edited by Dr Marina Efthymiou from DCU Business School was formally launched on Monday last week. This book addresses each of the air navigation services’ five broad categories of services provided to air traffic during all phases of operation: air traffic management, communication, navigation and surveillance services, meteorological services for air navigation, aeronautical information services and search and rescue.
It is designed for working professionals in Air Transport Management, but also undergraduate and postgraduate students studying air transport management and aeronautical engineering. It will also be very helpful for the training of air traffic control officers. All royalties from the book are donated to Orbis Ireland.
Speaking about the book, Dr Efthymiou said: “This book serves as a bridge between the worlds of industry and academia, uniting their collective wisdom. The domain of air traffic management is significantly under researched despite having a significant importance to aviation. It provides valuable insights into the fundamental principles, performance, and market dynamics that define the domain of air traffic management.
This work aspires to be a guide for professionals and a meaningful addition to the academic conversation, illuminating the intricacies and possibilities within this field. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the 14 industry professionals and academics whose intellectual contributions have enriched this endeavour.”
The webinar to launch the book included contributions from editor Dr Marina Efthymiou, Francois Huet, Dr Marek Bekier, Prof Anna Tomova and Keith McEvoy.
