The IAA has published details of a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) near Bangor Erris in Co. Mayo. The TRA will take effect from midnight on Monday 21st August until midnight on Monday 20th November 2023. It is located southwest of the village at 54° 07′ 33.1” N, 009° 46′ 59.5″ W and extends in a radius of 0.6NM from the surface to 3100ft AMSL. The TRA will be operated by a company called Enevate BV, a Dutch company that are developing kites that generate electricity as an alternative to wind turbines.
The TRA will remain Class G airspace for the duration and will apply to all aircraft including drones. State aircraft, aircraft of the Irish Coastguard Service and HEMS Aircraft Operators employed on an operational mission shall be exempt from the restriction. More details are available here.
