The General Aviation Safety Council of Ireland (GASCI) has announced a Safety Evening taking place on Thursday, 23 April 2026, offering an excellent opportunity for pilots, instructors, engineers, students, and aviation enthusiasts to engage with key safety topics in an informal setting.

The event will be held at the Greenhills Hotel, Limerick (V94 X2RV), starting at 19:00. Attendance is free, and all are welcome, with light refreshments provided. The evening will feature a series of short, practical presentations delivered by experienced contributors from across Irish general aviation:

    • Electronic Conspicuity – Tony Taylor
An update on the role of electronic conspicuity in improving situational awareness and reducing airspace conflict.
    • Propeller Safety – Gerry Humphreys
A vital reminder of propeller-related hazards, safe operating practices, and risk reduction on the ground.
    • Plan Continuation Bias – Ruth Bagnell
An exploration of one of the most common human factors traps in aviation decision-making and how to recognise and mitigate it.
    • GA Occurrence Reporting – Frank Tone
An overview of why and how to report occurrences in general aviation, and how shared data contributes to improved safety outcomes.

GASCI safety evenings are well known for their practical focus, open discussion, and relevance to everyday GA operations. This April’s event promises valuable insights for anyone involved in flying or supporting general aviation in Ireland. For more information about GASCI, you can visit their website here.
