Shannon Airport and Munster Rugby have extended their partnership for another three seasons, with Shannon remaining the Official Airport Partner of Munster Rugby until 2029. The agreement covers both the Munster Men’s and Women’s teams and will see Shannon continue to play a part in connecting Munster players and supporters with away fixtures.
For the men’s team, the new agreement will take the partnership beyond the decade mark, having first begun in the 2017/18 season. During that time, Shannon Airport has been part of Munster Rugby’s journeys, from European campaigns and URC fixtures to memorable homecomings. The sponsorship agreement also continues Shannon Airport’s support of the Munster Women’s team, which began in 2024. Since then, the squad has won back-to-back Interprovincial Championship titles in 2025 and 2026. The team travelled to the 2025 final on a Shannon Airport-branded bus before returning with the trophy.
Munster supporters travelling through Shannon can also now pick up official Munster Rugby merchandise and kit at Shannon Airport Duty Free, including the red heritage polo shirt. It builds on other elements of the partnership at the airport, including the Munster Rugby-branded passenger tunnel leading to the departure gates.
Commenting on the sponsorship deal, the Commercial Director of The Shannon Airport Group, Vanessa McTigue, said: “There is a natural connection between Shannon Airport and Munster Rugby. We are both rooted in this region, but with an outlook that reaches far beyond it.Over the years, we have seen Munster players and supporters set off from Shannon for some memorable trips across Europe and return home through the airport together. We’re very proud that this relationship will now continue to 2029 and take our partnership with the men’s team beyond the decade mark. We’re equally proud to support the Munster Women’s team and to see that relationship grow alongside their success over the past two seasons. For supporters, we want the Munster experience to begin before they board their flight. From the Munster tunnel to official jerseys now available in Shannon Duty Free, there’s a real sense of Munster at the airport for fans heading away to support their team.”
Also commenting was the Head of Commercial & Marketing at Munster Rugby, Dave Kavanagh, said: “Shannon Airport has been a fantastic supporter of Munster Rugby for almost a decade now and has been there for our teams throughout that time. They understand what Munster Rugby means to people across the province and have been part of so many of the journeys that come with following and representing Munster, whether that’s our teams travelling for fixtures or our supporters heading off to get behind us. The relationship has grown even stronger with Shannon’s support of our Women’s team over the past two seasons, and we’re delighted to continue that journey together with both our Men’s and Women’s teams for another three years.”
