ASG & IASA Launch Fully-Funded PPL & ATPL Theory Scholarship

ASG are thrilled to announce the 2025 ASG PPL & ATPL Theory Scholarship, in partnership with the Irish Aviation Students’ Association (IASA). This incredible opportunity will award one aspiring pilot with a fully funded Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory course, valued at €3,550.

This scholarship is designed to support the next generation of aviators, providing the recipient with access to world-class aviation training at ASG, one of Europe’s leading providers of EASA-approved pilot training.

By offering this scholarship, we aim to open doors for talented individuals who may not otherwise have access to the resources needed to pursue a career in aviation. The scholarship is open to aspiring pilots who meet the following criteria:

  • A demonstrated passion for aviation.
  • A strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to excellence in training and career development.
  • A member of IASA.
  • Followers of both IASA / ASG social media channels.

Applicants are required to complete the application form and submit a personal statement (max. 500 words) outlining their interest in aviation, their career aspirations, and why they should be considered for this unique opportunity.

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
