Pilot Careers Live – Saturday 21st – Croke Park

Pilot Careers Live, proudly supported by Flying In Ireland, will take place next Saturday at Croke Park, Dublin. This event is a must for anyone considering a career in aviation, or who has already started their journey and would like to learn more. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit a wide range of exhibitors who can provide helpful advice on the various paths to a career in the industry. Whether you’re interested in becoming an airline pilot, military pilot, helicopter pilot or Air Traffic Controller, this is the event for you.

To complement the wide variety of exhibitors, there will also be an interesting seminar programme from the biggest names in the industry including Ryanair, AirNav Ireland, easyJet, Aer Lingus and the Irish Air Corps.

The event opens at 10:00 with the first seminar starting at 10:15 when Ryanair will talk about their Mentored Cadet Programme and how they are the biggest cadet pilot recruiter in Europe. This will be followed by a presentation from AirNav Ireland at 11:00 who will outline what the role of an Air Traffic Controller is and how you can apply to join their Student Controller Training Programme.

At 11:45 Captain Kate West MBE – easyJet Training Manager – will explain how the MPL programme works and why it is the preferred route to the flight deck for easyJet. She’ll also provide insight into how to choose a training organisation and perform at your best during the selection process. At 12:30 Captain Karl O’Neill, Chief Instructor ATO at Aer Lingus will talk about the Aer Lingus Future Pilot Programme.

At 2 pm Captain Niall Dungan from the Irish Air Corps will talk about the exciting and varied careers available in the Defence Forces. In particular, he will cover the cadetship, the application process and the exciting roles and responsibilities he has undertaken as a young officer in the Defence Forces.

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
