SMBC Aviation Capital Expands Credit Facility to US$3 Billion

Dublin-based aircraft leasing giant SMBC Aviation Capital has significantly strengthened its financial position by increasing its unsecured revolving credit facility from US$1.1 billion to US$3 billion. Announced on 9th July, the enlarged facility is backed by a syndicate of 22 financial institutions from North America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, highlighting continued confidence in one of the world’s leading aviation finance companies.

The transaction brings 16 new banking partners into SMBC Aviation Capital’s core banking group and is designed to enhance the company’s liquidity and financial flexibility as it continues to grow its global aircraft leasing portfolio.

Aisling Kenny, Chief Financial Officer of SMBC Aviation Capital, said the successful refinancing demonstrates strong support from both existing and new banking partners. “The expanded facility enhances our financial flexibility and positions us well to continue executing on our growth strategy while further strengthening our global banking relationships,” she said.

SMBC Aviation Capital, headquartered in Dublin, is one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies and maintains an investment-grade credit profile. The company said the enlarged facility will complement its existing funding sources while providing greater access to liquidity to support future business opportunities.
