Pilots operating along Ireland’s east coast on Sunday, 2nd August 2026 should be aware of a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) that will be established in the vicinity of Rush, Co. Dublin, to facilitate the Rush Air Display. The restriction has been promulgated by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and will be in force between 1000 UTC and 1700 UTC.
The annual Rush Air Display has become one of the highlights of Ireland’s aviation calendar, attracting a wide range of military, civilian and aerobatic performers to the north Dublin coastline. To ensure the safe conduct of flying display activities and to protect other airspace users operating in the area, a dedicated volume of restricted airspace will be activated around the display site for the duration of the event.
The temporary restricted area extends from the surface to 2,000 feet AMSL and encompasses a section of airspace along the coastal area around Rush. The TRA is contained with the Dublin CTR so is unlikely to have a significant impact on GA traffic. However, transiting traffic to and from Ballyboughal Airfield before and after the show is likely, so pilots should keep a good lookout.
During the activation period, the airspace will revert to ICAO Class G classification. Aircraft participating in the display will normally operate on the designated Air/Ground frequency of 119.600 MHz and follow instructions and information issued by the Flying Display Director.
A NOTAM will be issued by the AIS to formally notify airspace users of the restriction and its activation. Pilots are strongly advised to check current NOTAMs before departure and ensure they are fully familiar with the dimensions and operating requirements associated with the temporary restricted area.
