Aerfort Dhún na nGall: BBC Alba Revisits Life at Donegal Airport

Aerfort Dhún na nGall (Donegal Airport) returns to BBC Alba with a repeat screening of its acclaimed first episode, offering viewers another chance to experience the intimate and insightful look at daily life inside one of Ireland’s most scenic and community‑focused airports. The four‑part documentary series follows the dedicated Donegal Airport team and the passengers who rely on this vital Atlantic gateway.

Airing again on Thursday 8th January at 20:30, the episode reintroduces audiences to the people who keep the airport running, from frontline staff to familiar local characters. Among the programme’s highlights is an appearance by legendary Altan musician Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, who reflects on how the airport enabled her to tour internationally. The episode also captures strong community spirit, featuring the Mullachdubh band performing at the St Patrick’s Day parade and emotional family reunions in the wake of the pandemic.

Whether discovering the series for the first time or enjoying the repeat broadcast, viewers are treated to a warm and engaging portrait of a regional airport that plays an outsized role in connecting Donegal with the wider world.
