Aircraft Registration Process Added to MySRS From October 28th

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) is set to digitise the aircraft registration process using the MySRS platform from October 28th, marking a significant step forward in modernising aircraft registration administration.

MySRS (My Safety Regulation System) is the IAA’s centralised online platform for managing aviation-related services. It allows users to create secure accounts, verify identities, and access a range of services, including aircraft registration, Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) applications, and aviation security organisation setup. It has also been in use for drone registration for several years. The platform supports digital signatures, two-factor authentication, and direct communication with the IAA.

From the go-live date, all new aircraft registration applications must be submitted through the MySRS platform, with paper submissions no longer accepted. Key benefits of the new system include:

  • Faster processing times
  • Real-time updates and confirmations
  • Secure communications and document handling
  • Environmentally responsible digital workflows
  • Electronically signed certificates available for download

All communications related to aircraft registration will now be handled within the platform, offering users a more efficient and transparent experience.

Feedback from users of the MySRS system has been mixed, with many reporting issues setting up the two-factor authentication system and difficulties navigating the user interface, particularly on mobile devices. Documentation has also been inconsistent, with some sections of the IAA website stating that MySRS is the preferred method of communication (e.g. Licence Holders Charter), while email autoresponders suggest that queries should be sent exclusively to licensing@iaa.ie. Hopefully, the aircraft registration section of MySRS has been thoroughly tested to ensure a smooth rollout.

If you hold an Irish issued Flight Crew Licence or plan to register an Irish aircraft, make sure your MySRS account is set up. Visit https://iaa.mysrs.ie for details.
