Enniskillen Aeropark Granted Planning Approval

On Wednesday, the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council issued a recommendation to approve the plans for Enniskillen Aeropark, adjacent to Enniskillen St. Angelo Airport. Developer Peter Day has spent the last 10 years trying to get the concept of Hangar Homes and Mixed-use Hangars (Commercial + Residential Use) adopted in the UK, including 7 years on Enniskillen Aeropark. The Planning Officer recommended approval for this unique development, which was unanimously voted in favour of by all the Councillors on the Planning Committee on Wednesday.

There were no objections from the CAA regarding Safety and Security or the Airport Operator who can see that this will help to safeguard the airport and make it more sustainable plus attract more visitors, or indeed the local residents regarding additional noise and road traffic as both would be minimal.

Not only will this development be a ‘game-changer’ for Enniskillen, but it will start the ‘ball rolling’ with Aeroparks on other General Aviation (GA) airports for solely residential Hangar Homes or Mixed-use Hangars for businesses like on Solent, which will have a positive impact on GA.

In a statement, Peter said: “If you are interested in being one of the first owners of a Hangar Home in the UK, which could also generate considerable income from short-term rentals to other pilots, with no responsibilities by using Fly-in Holiday Rentals (www.fly-inholidayrentals.co.uk), then please let me know and I will keep you informed on costs and timescales.”

He went on to say: “Finally, I want to thank all those who have encouraged me over the years to get these unique hangars adopted in the UK.  This is as much a victory for you as well as for common sense.”
