Temporary Restricted Area – Trinity College – 2nd October

The Minister of Transport acceding to a request from The Department of Justice for reasons related to security, has directed the Irish Aviation Authority to establish an area of temporary restricted airspace over Trinity College on 2nd October as follows:

Lateral limits:Circle radius 0.25NM centred on coordinates: 53° 20′ 37.50” N, 006° 15′ 16.50” W.
Vertical limits:Surface to 5000 feet AMSL.
Duration:From 1200hrs UTC to 1700hrs UTC on Wednesday 2nd October 2024.
Airspace Classification:The airspace within this TRA shall be ICAO Class C

Flights by aircraft within the TRA shall be restricted to operational search and rescue tasked by the Irish Coast Guard, State aircraft, emergency air ambulance aircraft, scheduled commercial air transport aircraft, including charter and cargo operations arriving/departing Dublin Airport, who are in receipt of an Air Traffic Service provided by AirNav Ireland. All other aircraft require prior Controlling Authority authorisation as specified in the full notice below. Unmanned aircraft systems are not permitted.

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
