Temporary Restricted Area for Low-Level Military Training

The IAA has published details of a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) that will be established over the Wicklow Mountains to facilitate low-level military flight training. The period of restrictions will be on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, April 8th, 9th and 11th from 08:00 UTC until 16:00 UTC (09:00L to 17:00L). The airspace within the TRA will remain Class G but will be restricted to use by aircraft authorised to do so by the Permanent Defence Forces.

The TRA will encompass the Blessington Lakes to the west and stretch as far as Lough Dan in the east. The northern part is just south of Glencree and stretches as far south as the northern tip of the EI-D5. Vertically it will stretch from the surface to 4,000ft. See the map for further details.

State aircraft, aircraft of the Irish Coastguard Service and HEMS Aircraft Operators employed on an operational mission shall be exempt from the restriction. Any exemptions, alleviations or permissions, granted to civil general air traffic by the Authority, are not valid within this Temporary Restricted Area during the period cited.
