Fingal County Council have approved Ryanair’s planning application for a new Hangar at Dublin Airport. Hangar 7 will be located opposite the existing Hangar 6 but south of the approach for the North Runway. The development will consist of the construction of a single-storey, part two-storey four-bay hangar designed to accommodate up to 4 Code C Aircraft, with associated maintenance facilities, ancillary offices and staff areas.
The proposed development will also consist of:
- the demolition of the existing internal airport roadway on site and the development of new site access arrangements;
- external covered bin storage and chemical storage;
- new substation;
- provision of 20 airside vehicle parking spaces
- new service connections
- and all other associated site and development work
As part of the decision to grant permission, Fingal County Council imposed 14 planning restrictions. Most relate to the constriction phase but one notes that construction cannot commence until the proposed extension to the North Apron (which will service Hangar 7) has received planning permission. This was separately approved by the council last week.
The development is expected to cost in the region of €40m and a mix of heavy and line maintenance will be completed at the facility. The Hangar will be able to facilitate the B737-10 MAX that was ordered by the airline recently.
