Electric Picnic Temporary Restricted Area (TRA)

The IAA have published details of the Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) that will be in place in the vicinity of Stradbally Co. Laois for the Electric Picnic festival this weekend. The purpose of the TRA is to ensure the safety of aircraft operating into and out of the Electric Picnic Music Festival, Stradbally Hall, Stradbally, Co. Laois and of other aircraft operating in the vicinity of the TRA in the period cited.

The TRA is centred on 53o00’33” N 007o09’58” W with a circle radius of 2.0 NM stretching from the surface to 2,000ft. The period of the restriction shall be from 0500hrs UTC September 01st to 0800hrs UTC September 04th 2023. Further details here.

Pilots should also note that the P8 prohibited area has recently moved approximately 1NM to the northeast. Historically the P8 was centred close to O’Moore Park in Portlaoise but has recently been relocated over the Prison. This important change is buried in a NOTAM among lots of obstacle NOTAMs so is easily missed. Aeronautical charts including SkyDemon still show the old P8 dimensions because it has yet to be updated in AIP IRELAND. The Yellow and Black circle below denotes the new location of the P8.
