Atlantic Aviation Group are now accepting applications for their two-year Aircraft Maintenance Traineeship.
Atlantic Aviation Group is an Aircraft Maintenance (Part 145) provider, offering Maintenance and Engineering services to international operators of B737, B757 and B767 type aircraft. Their customers include global airlines, leasing companies and VIP operators. They have been providing quality services for over 60 years in a modern 110,000-square-foot facility at Shannon. Their Apprenticeship programme has been running for over thirty years and they have produced the last two WorldSkills champions and five of the last six National champions in Aircraft Maintenance.
An Aircraft Maintenance Technician (CAT A Mechanic) typically performs minor maintenance tasks and part replacements that may be required and subsequently certify these tasks. Aircraft Maintenance Technicians can perform various maintenance tasks during heavy and line maintenance on aircraft systems and components. The aviation industry is regulated in Europe by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), in America by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and in Ireland, by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).
The Aircraft Maintenance Traineeship Training Programme is offered in partnership with the Limerick and Clare Education Training Board and has been developed to satisfy the skill and knowledge requirements for an EASA Part 66 Cat A Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence and to furnish the trainee with the essential disciplines to work competently and safely within the Aircraft Maintenance Environment. This is a 27-month traineeship, combining learning in an education and training setting and in the workplace with Atlantic Aviation Group.
The Traineeship includes Theory, Workshop Practical Training, Aircraft Practical Training and On the Job Experience, with On the Job Experience taking place in Atlantic Aviation Group’s Shannon facility. At the end of the Training Programme, successful trainees can apply to the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) for their EASA Cat A Aircraft Maintenance License. This License can be upgraded to a B1/ B2 with more examinations and experience. These qualifications are also recognised by colleges and universities which can give a reduction in the number of years that might be required to attend.
Trainees have a wide range of opportunities available to them upon completion of this programme. Many Trainees stay with Atlantic Aviation Group, further developing their skills and qualifications and establishing their career in aircraft maintenance.
