Shannon Airport prepares to welcome 33,000 passengers over the Halloween break, a 91% rebound on the passenger numbers over the same period in 2019. This comes as the airport’s bumper winter schedule kicks in from Sunday 30th of October, topping pre-pandemic services by 20%. The schedule, which offers 96 weekly flights, to 23 destinations in 11 countries across the UK, Europe and the USA, provides passengers with a mix of sun, ski, and city break destinations. Holiday goers can now continue their adventures to Malta and Marseille, as Ryanair has decided to extend these two new passenger favourites, from seasonal to year-round. Shannon’s winter schedule also sees the return of the popular Italian ski destination of Turin.
Commenting ahead of the busy weekend, the CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, Mary Considine said, “We are looking forward to welcoming all passengers through Shannon Airport over the October Halloween break. This year we are seeing a 91% recovery on 2019 passenger figures for the same period, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in growing and recovering services. There has been strong pent-up demand for travel this year, as the airport sees its weekly winter departures increase by 20% compared to the winter season of 2019. We now provide more choice to our passengers with increased frequencies on some of our popular destinations such as Birmingham, Krakow, and Wroclaw services compared to 2019. Due to their success, we are also delighted to see Marseille and Malta operating year-round. On top of this, we have our recently launched service to Paris with new carrier Vueling along with daily services to the US, and six daily flights to London.”
