@AvWeekScho .@AKL_Airport CEO notes it will take time for intl passenger flows to recover following NZ border opening. But this provides the certainty airlines need to plan schedules etc. There are now 13 intl airlines flying into NZ, down from 29 before pandemic.

@AvWeekScho .@FlyAirNZ announces NZ$2.2 billion recapitalisation plan. The NZ govt has committed to participating in order to maintain its 51% shareholding in the airline.

@AvWeekScho .@FlyAirNZ confirms it will add New York (JFK) as its 6th U.S. gateway from Sept. 17. It has been planning this for years – direct flights should help build this market. It will use 787-9s, over 16 hr northbound, 17.5 hr southbound. 3x per week, year round.

@AvWeekScho India’s airline market is going to be very interesting to watch in the second half of ’22… new players, resurrected brands, major leadership changes, potentially big aircraft orders…

@AvWeekScho Jetstar Group is preparing for first A321LRs… Jetstar says first for Australia is due “in the coming months,” with eight more between Aug ’22 and May ’23. Meanwhile, Jetstar Japan has previously said its first A321LR entered scheduled service.
