Tree Planted at Kilrush in Memory of Jim Price and Aidan Rowsome
A group of approximately 100 family and friends of the late Jim Price and Aidan Rowsome gathered in Kilrush Airfield on 16th October to plant a tree in their memory. Both Aidan and Jim were much loved and well-known members of the aviation community in Ireland. They lost their lives in the ill-fated Bristell LSA aircraft that crashed in Co. Kildare on 13th June 2019. The aircraft was based in Kilrush.
In addressing those in attendance, Jim Ryan expressed the sense of loss which the aviation family felt but noted that it could not compare with the loss felt by their families. It was hoped however, that the tree would serve as a lasting memorial to the two pilots and would symbolise the support which the aviation family held for the families.
The tree was planted by Denise and Marie, the wives of Jim and Aidan. A small plaque was laid by Aidan’s daughter Nadia and Jim’s son Alan. Speaking on behalf of the families and of all those present, Jim expressed their gratitude to Ian Valentine for his assistance and co-operation in giving his permission to hold the event in such a fitting location on the airfield.
