New Ryanair Base in Riga
Ryanair will open a new base in Riga, Latvia and base two aircraft there initially. They will operate up to 95 flights per week across 30 routes from the airport. This will include 16 new routes from Riga and increased frequencies on existing routes. The new routes will all be operated on a twice per week basis except Oslo Sandefjord will be four per week and the service to Warsaw-Modlin will operate five times per week. The other new routes are to Aarhus, Beauvais, Bourgas, Bristol, Budapest, Rome-Ciampino, Gothenburg, Hahn, Krakow, Lviv, Malaga, Memmingham and Palermo. Riga is currently served by around 30 cities in the Ryanair network and the new based aircraft will be operated by Buzz. Ryanair has said it will be creating an additional 60 jobs in Riga with the opening of the new base.
In recent days, Ryanair has launched its summer schedule for summer 2022, with bookings for flights possible to be made as far out as October 2022. The airline has more than 10,000 flights across 500 routes available to book and more expected to be added in the coming months. Commenting on the launch of the summer 2022 schedule Ryanair’s Director of Commercial, Jason McGuinness said, “We are delighted to launch our Summer 2022 programme, which so far comprises of 500 routes to Europe’s favourite city and sunshine destinations. With over 10,000 flights every week and further destinations to be released in the coming months, customers can now make travel plans for Summer 2022 with greater ease. We have launched routes to firm favourites such as Malaga, Malta, Palermo, Venice, Faro, Tenerife and the Greek Islands, with many more to be added soon.”
