Tony Kearns RIP
The news broke on Sunday afternoon that Tony Kearns had passed away. Tony was well known to many in the Irish Aviation community and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Irish Air Corps over the past 50+ years. He was a regular visitor to Baldonnel, was well-liked and always had time to chat and share his knowledge of the Air Corps – particularly during the early days of Flying In Ireland Magazine. He was a valuable member of the volunteer team that helped maintain the Air Corps Museum and was always on hand to share his wealth of knowledge on the various exhibits. Tony was a regular attendee at events in Baldonnel including passing out parades and arrivals of new aircraft to the fleet. He was recently at the last flight of the Cessna fleet and he remarked that he was probably the only person present that remembered when the aircraft were delivered back in in 1973 as he had the photos to prove it!
May he Rest In Peace.
