Dublin and Shannon Airports to Light Up for Wave of Light 2026

Two of Ireland’s busiest airports will shine in pink and blue on 15th October as part of the Global Wave of Light, marking the conclusion of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Both Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport will illuminate in the awareness colours to remember babies who have died during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy, and to show support for bereaved families.

The Global Wave of Light takes place annually at 7pm local time on 15th October. Around the world, families light candles and landmarks are illuminated, creating a continuous wave of remembrance as different countries move through the evening.

A Little Lifetime Foundation has welcomed the support of Dublin Airport for this year’s campaign. Every day, thousands of people arrive in Ireland or set off on journeys through the airport, making it a particularly visible location for raising awareness and showing support for bereaved families.

For parents who have experienced the loss of a baby, seeing such a prominent location illuminated can provide a moment of comfort and a reminder that their babies are remembered. On 15th October, families across Ireland will visit landmarks taking part in the Wave of Light, and for many, seeing these buildings shine in memory of their babies means more than words can say.

The participation of Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport ensures that the aviation community will once again play a visible role in raising awareness of baby loss and supporting bereaved families across Ireland.

As darkness falls on 15th October, the pink and blue lights at Ireland’s airports will join hundreds of illuminated buildings and landmarks around the world, sending a powerful message that every baby matters, every family matters, and every loss deserves to be remembered. For bereaved parents arriving home, heading away, or simply passing through on their journey, those lights serve as a reminder that their babies are not forgotten.
