Gainjet Ireland Expands Shannon Air Ambulance Fleet and Creates 14 New Jobs

Gainjet Ireland has announced a significant expansion of its Shannon-based air ambulance operation with the addition of a second dedicated aeromedical aircraft and the creation of 14 new jobs.

The operator has added a Hawker 800XP, registration EJ-REVV, to its fleet and EASA Air Operator Certificate (AOC), strengthening its capability to provide specialist medical transport services across Europe and beyond. The aircraft becomes the second dedicated air ambulance in the company’s fleet, increasing operational capacity and flexibility for time-critical patient transfer missions.

Based at Shannon Airport, the Hawker 800XP has been configured specifically for air ambulance operations. The aircraft is capable of carrying patients, medical personnel and specialist medical equipment while offering the range and performance required for international aeromedical transport.

The fleet expansion has also delivered a boost to employment in the region, with 14 new positions created and filled. The recruitment drive includes roles within flight operations, continuing airworthiness, operational support, administration, as well as specialist positions for flight nurses and paramedics.

Commenting on the development, Ray Mills, CEO and Accountable Manager of Gainjet Ireland, said the addition of a second dedicated air ambulance would significantly enhance the company’s ability to support urgent medical missions while also contributing to job creation in both the aviation and healthcare sectors. He noted that introducing a new aircraft onto an AOC requires extensive work across multiple departments and thanked staff for their efforts in bringing EJ-REVV into service.

The latest addition marks another milestone in the growth of Gainjet Ireland’s specialist aviation activities. Operating from Shannon Airport with a sales office in Dublin, the company says its two-aircraft air ambulance capability provides a strategically positioned base from which to support medical transport missions throughout Europe and further afield.

Gainjet Ireland is Ireland-based and EASA-certified, operating a fleet that includes Gulfstream G650 and G550 aircraft alongside its Hawker air ambulance fleet. The operator provides executive charter, specialist air ambulance, delivery and ferry flight services.
