An RNP1 is primarily a diversion tool with a built-in protractor. It’s designed to give you two critical pieces of information when performing a diversion, firstly, the track to the new destination/point and secondly, the distance to the new destination/point. The heading to be flown and the time it will take depends on the direction of the wind and its speed. On the ground, time can be spent planning a route and a PLOG created. Magnetic or true headings are simultaneously obtained from the compass rose by simply aligning the horizontal centre line with the desired track. With 1:500,000 scale to 50nm. The outside edge printed on each side is marked with conventional protractor degrees, the RNP-1 also incorporates a scale of 1:250,000 nm to 25 nm.
