Emerald Airlines has signed a new long-term maintenance agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada covering the PW127M engines that power its ATR 72-600 fleet. Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the almost five-year agreement will provide comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) support for Emerald’s turboprop fleet through to 2030.
Emerald Airlines, which operates the Aer Lingus Regional network, says the deal will bring greater certainty to fleet planning and maintenance costs while helping ensure high levels of aircraft availability across its regional route network. Richard Spencer, Chief Operating Officer of Emerald Airlines, said the agreement provides “long-term certainty” for the airline’s fleet and offers predictable maintenance costs, allowing the carrier to plan operations with confidence.
Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Anthony Rossi described the contract as a customised solution designed to optimise maintenance costs while delivering dependable engine performance and dispatch reliability. Most of the engine maintenance work will be carried out at Pratt & Whitney Canada’s specialist turboprop MRO facility in Singapore, with additional support provided from the company’s Montreal operation.
The PW127M is part of the widely used PW100 engine family that powers ATR regional aircraft around the world. Pratt & Whitney Canada says the engines offer significant efficiency advantages on sectors of less than 350 miles, reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by between 25% and 40% compared with similarly sized regional jets. The engines are also approved for operation with sustainable aviation fuel blends.
Founded in 2021, Emerald Airlines has rapidly established itself as a key regional operator, connecting Ireland with destinations across the UK and France through the Aer Lingus Regional franchise, while also providing ACMI and charter services. The new agreement reinforces the airline’s commitment to maintaining a reliable and efficient ATR fleet as it continues its growth across the region.
