SkyUp Airlines has officially inaugurated its new route from Dublin to Chișinău, bringing fresh connectivity between Ireland and Moldova. The first flight departed last Thursday evening (18th December) from Dublin, marking the start of a twice-weekly service operating every Tuesday and Thursday. This new link offers Irish travellers greater access to Eastern Europe and strengthens ties with Moldova’s capital.
Founded in 2017, SkyUp is a Ukrainian airline known for its hybrid model that combines low-cost fares with full-service features. The carrier began operations in 2018 and quickly expanded across Europe. Despite challenges such as the pandemic and the closure of Ukrainian airspace in 2022, SkyUp adapted by leasing aircraft abroad and running charter services. Today, it operates primarily Boeing 737 aircraft and continues to grow its footprint through scheduled flights from Chișinău and other European hubs, supported by its Malta-based subsidiary, SkyUp MT.
The inaugural flight was operated by Boeing 737-700 ER-SMA.
