Low-Level Military Flight Training TRA Published

Low-Level Military Flight Training will take place in the Wicklow Mountains next week from October 20th to 24th. To protect the aircraft involved, the IAA have published details of a TRA for the period concerned.

Lateral limits:   The airspace contained within:
53° 12′ 00” N, 006° 23′ 56″ W
53° 10′ 12” N, 006° 14′ 20″ W
53° 03′ 00” N, 006° 14′ 24″ W
53° 03′ 00” N, 006° 37′ 12″ W
53° 11′ 24” N, 006° 32′ 24″ W
53° 12′ 00” N, 006° 23′ 56″ W  
Vertical limits:   SFC to 4000FT AMSL  
Duration:   The period of the restriction shall be from 0800hrs UTC to 1600hrs UTC daily from Monday October 20th to Friday October 24th, 2025.  

The purpose of the TRA is to ensure the safety of aircraft operating within and of other air traffic operating in the vicinity of the Wicklow Mountains, County Wicklow in the period cited whilst allowing for low-level Military flight training. Full details are available in the notice here.

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
