Emerald Airlines Aircraft Engineering & Maintenance Apprenticeship 2025

Emerald Airlines are now taking applications for their Aircraft Engineering & Maintenance Apprenticeship 2025 for both Dublin and Belfast. Applications are open now and will close on 25th March 2025. This programme will be of particular interest to those interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry, more specifically within the Engineering and Maintenance departments.

In total, Emerald are looking for 6 candidates to partake in this year’s intake. The Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance Apprenticeship is carried out in collaboration with SOLAS, Ireland’s Further Education and Training Authority and Technological University Dublin.

With a combined approach of classroom and hands-on experience, those who successfully complete the apprenticeship will be considered for full-time positions at Emerald Airlines. Successful applicants will split their time between classroom training in both Shannon and Dublin, and on-the-job training at the Emerald Airlines Engineering and Maintenance Facility at Dublin Airport or Belfast City Airport. Throughout their time as an Emerald Airlines apprentice, those successful will complete academic studies at both Shannon Aviation School & TUD, while also gaining practical work experience at the Emerald Airlines Hangar Facilities.

Requirements

  • Leaving cert or PLC in a relevant discipline, or equivalent 
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age   
  • Have a keen mechanical and technical interest
  • A commitment to a 4-year apprenticeship program

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
