Ryanair Carry Over 20 Million Passengers in August

Ryanair has seen an 8% increase in traffic for August 2024 with 20.5 million passengers carried during the month – up from 18.9 million in August 2023. Average load factor for the month was 96%. On a rolling basis, Ryanair has carried 192 million passengers over the last 12 months, also an 8% increase on the same time last year. Rolling 12 month load factor was 94%, identical to last year. The Ryanair Group of airlines operated over 111,800 flights in August.

Meanwhile, the airline has welcomed the Swedish Government’s proposal to abolish the Aviation Tax from 1st July 2025. Ryanair has said: “The Government has correctly determined that aviation taxes do nothing to promote sustainable aviation and in fact only serve to damage economic growth, tourism, and employment, whilst also limiting low fare connectivity for Swedish citizens.”

In a statement, the company went on to say: “As a country on the periphery of Europe, Sweden relies heavily on low fare air travel to access central Europe. Despite this Sweden is one of the few European countries that have failed to recover air traffic, operating at below 80% of pre-Covid levels alongside the likes of France, Germany, and Norway, all of whom share the common theme of regressive aviation taxes.”
