A draft Noise Action Plan has been prepared that details the regulatory framework and processes for managing aircraft noise at Dublin Airport. It explains the roles and responsibilities of the various regulatory authorities and sets out an approach for the strategic management and control of environmental noise associated with aircraft activity at Dublin Airport for the period 2024-2028.
The preparation of noise action plans is a requirement of European and Irish environmental noise legislation that requires strategic noise maps and noise action plans to be made and revised every five years for major European airports (more than 50,000 aircraft movements per year). Fingal County Council is the designated authority for making a noise action plan for Dublin Airport.
The draft plan provides an overview of the aircraft noise situation in the communities around Dublin Airport, highlighting areas for improvement and potential future developments that may affect future noise levels, such as changes to noise management measures and infrastructure upgrades.
The draft Dublin Airport Noise Action Plan is open for public consultation between 3rd September 2024 at 09:00 and 15th October 2024 at 17:00 (late submissions will not be considered).
Members of the public are invited to participate in the consultation process and share their views. Your input will help Fingal County Council understand diverse needs, identify potential challenges, and develop solutions for the best possible outcomes. Your feedback will play a crucial role in shaping decisions that must be made through consideration of the diverse perspectives of all stakeholders.

The draft Dublin Airport Noise Action Plan and associated documents may be viewed online and downloaded prior to making a submission using the link below. The link also provides interactive maps to supplement the draft plan and facilitate the examination of the noise climate for the mapped years down to the level of individual homes and businesses. Aircraft noise maps are provided for the noise climate for 2016, 2021 and 2023. Additional forecast maps are also provided for potential situations that could occur during the duration of the plan. These forecast potential scenarios are, however, subject to planning assessment and appeal processes.
