Early on Friday morning, 31st May, Red Bull Skydivers Marco Fuerst, Marco Waltenspiel and Max Manow jumped out of a helicopter over Dublin Bay to attempt to fly through the Poolbeg Chimneys using wingsuit.

Flying through the Stacks at just 135 metres above the ground, the trio then performed a difficult ‘flare’ manoeuvre to regain the height needed to pull their parachutes and land safely on Shelly Banks Beach. From the helicopter to ground, the wingsuit flight lasted just 65 seconds. In that window, the flying trio travelled a total distance of 2,227 metres.
The event was captured on video by the third Skydiver, Max Manow (see video below). The helicopter used was EI-XHC, an Airbus Helicopters AS350 B3, operated by Executive Helicopters based in Galway.
Speaking after the event, Marco Fürst said: “It was an amazing feeling to complete this jump. The view over Dublin Bay and Poolbeg at sunrise was beautiful. To be the first to fly through this iconic landmark is very special. It was my first jump in Ireland, but I would love to come back”
