AFTA and Green Rebel Marine

Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) were delighted to attend the announcement of up to 75 new jobs in Limerick for Cork-born business Green Rebel Marine. GRM specialise in marine and renewable energy services and is supported by AFTA in their offshore aerial data acquisition with the operation of a specialised Diamond DA-42.

Green Rebel Group acquired the aircraft to undertake ecological assessments as part of the planning process for marine renewable energy projects, including offshore wind farms. The €1.5 million twin-engine Diamond Air DA42 aircraft is used to survey thousands of square miles of ocean. The DA-42 is the most environmentally friendly aircraft of its class on the market, in keeping with Green Rebel Group’s mission to reduce the dependence on energy from fossil fuels. The aircraft, registered EI-GRM, is permanently based at Cork Airport and operated by AFTA.

The announcement of 75 new jobs in Limerick was attended by Minister for Enterprise Simon Coveney where he was shown LiDAR buoys and innovative technologies that are designed and assembled at the company’s Limerick facility.
