On 14th June Dublin City University (DCU) signed a cooperation agreement with Ireland’s aviation regulator, the IAA. The agreement sets out a long-term partnership between the two organisations and covers a range of shared commitments to aviation education and research including air transport management.
Their aim is to create a best-in-class aviation education environment for both students and industry professionals and to create a platform which can work internationally and domestically to develop excellence in aviation training and education using the research experience of the University and the industry knowledge of the regulator.
Dominic Elliott, Executive Dean, of DCU Business School said: “This significant new industry-academic collaboration demonstrates DCU’s commitment to excellence in teaching and research in aviation management. The agreement marks an extension of our relationship with the IAA. It aims to nurture a new generation of aviation managers and leaders. We aim to work together, to advance aviation research and practice. A key aim is to support our students and industry professionals develop the knowledge and skillset to achieve transformative change in the aviation industry in Ireland and beyond.”
The Chief Executive of the IAA, Declan Fitzpatrick welcomed the agreement as a sign of a maturing market for aviation excellence in education. “This agreement will, I hope, pave the way to marry the aviation industry expertise in Ireland and the excellence of our education partners to further enhance the sector both here and internationally. From the leasing and finance sector to the pilots, air traffic controllers and engineers who keep our skies and runways safe, Ireland is home to some of the world’s leading aviation experts. With all of the change occurring in the industry, now is the time to work together in education and research and future-proof the industry in Ireland for future generations.”
