@ByERussell And for the recent criticism of France’s ban on select short-haul flights? It may not affect many routes but, as Air France CEO Rigail said, it is prompting larger mode shifts.
@ByERussell “We see an increased change in behaviour of the customer on [domestic] routes … Maybe because there [are] a lot of topics around lowering the consumption of energy. But also in the government recommendations in France,” @airfrance CEO Anne Rigail said.
@ByERussell Airlines are trying to tap into this mode shift with more “air-rail” partnerships, or when travellers book a flight and train on a single ticket. Air France, Delta, ITA, KLM, Lufthansa, and Swiss are among carriers recently expanding their offerings.
@ByERussell And, if you have not yet booked your flight to Europe this summer, don’t expect any deals. Lufthansa forecasts yields 25% above 2019 levels in Q2, that compares to just a 10% increase a year ago when fares already felt expensive.
@ByERussell Strong demand and capacity constraints mean @lufthansa expects “strongest summer in our company’s history in terms of traffic revenue.” No sign of travel demand waning at Europe’s largest network airline group.
