Light aircraft crash in Co. Waterford

A light aircraft has crashed this evening near Dungarvan in Co. Waterford. It is understood that the pilot of the single seat aircraft has been pronounced dead at the scene.  The emergency services were called shortly before 7.00pm. The aircraft had left Waterford airport a short time earlier and it was expected to display at the Foynes Airshow tomorrow. The Foynes Airshow is still due to take place tomorrow. The Waterford based Irish Coast Guard helicopter attended the scene. Members of the AAIU are expected to visit the crash site later this evening.
