Air Macau Advances Retail Transformation with Dublin-Based Datalex

Air Macau has taken a significant step forward in modernising its retail and e-commerce capabilities through a strategic partnership with Dublin-headquartered Datalex, a global leader in airline digital retail solutions.

Since activating Datalex’s Stellex Offer Shopping & Pricing Engine in September 2024, the Macau-based carrier has made rapid progress in enhancing its commercial offering and digital customer experience. In under eighteen months, Air Macau has expanded its fare product portfolio and driven measurable revenue growth across its online channels.

The Stellex platform is now deployed across seven of the airline’s core digital touchpoints, including its official website, mobile app, and popular regional platforms such as Douyin and MPAY. Further integrations are planned, signalling a continued focus on digital expansion. At the heart of the transformation is improved pricing and product control. The Stellex engine enables Air Macau to deliver more dynamic and personalised offers, supported by richer content and faster response times. For customers, this translates to a smoother, more engaging booking experience, while for the airline, it unlocks new revenue opportunities and improved conversion rates.

The system’s scalable architecture is designed to handle the high-volume shopping activity typical of airline retailing. By optimising pricing accuracy and managing operational costs more efficiently, Air Macau is better positioned to maximise revenue across both domestic and international routes. A notable feature of the deployment is its alignment with the specific needs of the Chinese aviation market. Developed with regional requirements in mind, the platform supports complex fare calculations based on IATA and ATPCO standards, helping airlines deliver transparent and competitive pricing.

As part of the Air China Group, Air Macau also benefits from enhanced interline capabilities. The new system allows the airline to seamlessly combine its own services with those of partner carriers within the group, creating more flexible itineraries and expanding its global reach.

Wang Qing, General Manager of E-Commerce at Air Macau, described the deployment as a “key milestone” in the airline’s retail transformation, highlighting the increased agility and ability to deliver a broader range of fare options to customers.

Datalex CEO Jonathan Rockett added that the partnership demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting airlines in Asia with tailored digital retailing solutions, particularly in the fast-evolving Chinese market.

For Datalex, the collaboration reinforces Ireland’s growing influence in aviation technology, while for Air Macau, it represents a major step towards becoming a more agile, customer-focused retailer in an increasingly competitive industry.
