Ballyboughal Airfield for Rush Air Display

Photos and text by Paddy Kilduff

As usual, many of the aircraft which took part in the annual Fingal Rush Air Display on Sunday 4th August operated from Ballyboughal Airfield just north of Swords. Below are photos of these aircraft on a grey summer day before a heavy shower which luckily cleared and allowed the show to take place. The Bell 206B Jet Ranger III, G-JTBX, was used to ferry the Event Ops staff to/from Rush.

Richard Goodwin’s new Pitts S-2SE, G-JPIT, with its two Lynx Turbojet engines, was probably the “noisy” star of the show in Rush and on its impressive take-off at Ballyboughal. It is making its debut on the 2024 Air Show circuit. More info at: https://www.richgoodwinairshows.com/g-jpit .

Rescue 116, EI-ICA, Irish Parachute Club Cessna 182, EI-CDP, and the Royal Jordanian Falcons joined the Air Display from Dublin Airport, Clonbullogue and Weston, respectively.
